My ex-husband removed one of the children from dental insurance, what can I do?

Question Details:

I just found out my that ex removed, without my consent, our 18-year-old daughter off his dental insurance and kept the minor children on there.  The divorce decree states he is to keep all children covered as long as he is obligated to pay child support; that has not been terminated. He has recently filed petition for change of custody. How do I go about with getting him in violation of the removal of the child?

Well, once your child turns 18, usually child support stops, unless the divorce decree/child support decree mandates otherwise.  The reason is because the child is now legally an adult.  Some child support decrees do extend through the "child's" college education or vocational education but it oftentimes must so specifically state.

You can attempt to have your adult child placed back on mandatory support or insurance coverage but you should go through court to amend the order or re-visit it if you think your ex is indeed in contempt of the order.
