Early release from probation in Colorado
Question Details: I am currently on unsupervised probation in Boulder County, Colorado for a misdemeanor conviction. I have learned that it is possible to be released early if the all the terms of your sentencing are complete. I have met these conditions, and acquired a form from the clerk's office for the request. I need to know what I should be citing in the "applicable laws" category. In other words, is there a specific law that applies to this or should I be saying 'good behaviour' and nothing more. I have no violations, and no complaints. The time sentenced is more than half elapsed.
It depends on the charge you are on probation for and the prosecutors position in soem respects. Thre is nothing wrong with asking the Judge to terminate the probation early - but it may or may not happen. The judge will get input from the probation department and the prosecutor before deciding. However, like I said, there is nothing wrong with filing the request.
In the form, I know of no specific law so I would just leave it blank if it were me.
Expect it to take a couple of weeks for the judge to rule on the motion.
