I am a lawyer in CT and practice in this area of the law.  A DUI is a serious charge and exposes you to jail and increased insurance rates, among other things.  However, giving a false statement to a police officer is also a serious charge and may expose you to jail time.  If you change your story, the police may charge you with a crime of giving a false statement.  This will follow you around and will be on your record when you apply for jobs- no one like a person that lies.  People understand DUI even though it is a serious charge.  I suggest talking to a lawyer and discussing which option to take.  You definately shold hire a lawyer.  most lawyers will meet with your the first time for free.  I would not go to court without a game plan and a lawyer on this.
