Don't you have the right to use what body shop you prefer even when you have a loan on your vehicle (financing)?

Question Details: I have a truck that is going to be getting fixed from an accident soon. The insurance co. is making the check payable to myself and the body shop. The truck is Seller financed and the Seller is telling me that if I do not take the truck to his body shop that he is going to call the note and take the truck in 10 days. Is that legal? I have not missed any payments, and he just wants me to use his shop because he owns a body shop and wants the money with out the quality of work (if fear).

Two issues here.  One, do you have a written contract with seller stating where you must get car repaired?  Does the contract say he can call in the note in 10 period for getting car repaired at different place.

If not, get repaired where you want.  Just make sure you continue to make payments to the seller.

Second issue.  You are correct.  You can decide where to get the car repaired.
