Criminal Defense Law Answers

The military justice system actually is a branch of "government law" itself.  If you're talking about the law of a particular state, or more general federal laws, it depends on several different things.

On an established military base, the military law governs, if it has anything that applies to a particular situation.  If there's nothing on the question in military law, then state or other law can be considered.

Off base, the two systems overlap somewhat, and there are no simple answers to how this works.
