Does my ex have to tell me if she gets married or if she gets a new job that pays her more while I am still paying alimony?

Question Details:

Doesn't she legally have to least me know? What do I do if I lose my job and can't pay any longer?

Your ex isn't under any obligation to tell you about a new job;  it's less clear whether she has to tell you about a remarriage, although if you find out that it has happened, you should be able to get a court order requiring her to repay any alimony she got from you after that marriage.  If she were my client, I'd advise her to tell you, and return the first post-remarriage alimony check, because keeping the money isn't something a court would view kindly.

If you lose your job, or if you find out that your ex has a much higher paying job, you can file a motion with the court, and ask for the alimony to be reduced or ended.  Be prepared to show a real, well-documented job search, if you're basing the motion on your unemployment.
