Does Arkansas still issue restricted permits for a person convicted of a DWI first offense?

Question Details: I was convicted of a DWI and the judge told me I would be able to get a restricted permit while my license was suspended so I would be able to commute to work. I called the Driver Control office and I was told that Arkansas no longer issues restricted permits. I would have to get an interlock system installed to be able to drive. Is this correct?

DUI / DWI Law Answers

My research suggests that, pursuant to recent legislation, in Arkansas persons arrested for a first offense DWI are not entitled to a restricted permit but are allowed an ignition interlock restricted license.

You can confirm this with a DUI attorney in your area.
