What happens if I don't sign divorce papers?
Question Details:
My husband moved out 10 weeks ago; hewants a divorce. I will not give it to him because there was nothing really major happening in our marriage that I know of. I believe that he is going through some middle-age crisis and wants to act like a teenager and wants or has been getting attention elsewhere.
I am sorry for your troubles. If the consent is not mutual then your husband will have to sue you for divorce. You need grounds in order to do so. There is a "no-fault" ground indicating that the marriage is "irretrievably broken" and various other grounds such as adultery, living separate and apart for two years, etc. And if you like, you can contest the divorce, meaning fighting him all the way. This can and will get very costly and you will need an attorney to help you. I would suggest that you seek consultation on what your options are here before your husband serves you with divorce papers. Good luck.
