Do I need to pay my yearly timeshare maintenance fee if I no longer want to use the timeshare?

Question Details:

I purchased a timeshare 12 years ago in Mexico and have paid off all the ownerships fees. I no longer use it and need to know if I'm legally required to pay the yearly maintenance fee. The contract goes for another 3 years.

Your question essentially answers itself: if the contract "goes for another 3 years," then you would have to keep paying all fees due under that contract for 3 more years--unless and only to the extent that the contract itself provides some grounds for not paying. But unless the contract has a provision under which you would not have to pay, you would have to pay for as long as the contract is in force, regardless of whether or nt you use the timeshare.
