Do I need to appear for a subpoena issued in Maryland for a civil case even though I live out of state?

Question Details: A subpoena was recently delivered to my parent's house in Maryland for me to appear in court as a witness in a divorce case. I live out of state and I've never even seen the subpoena. Do they even have jurisdiction over me and if so, the subpoena was never served directly to me, so is it even valid? It is going to be a huge burden for me to appear in court (missing work, classes, and the cost of travel). What should I do?
