DO I need an attorney to get an occupational license since mine was suspended for DWI?

Question Details: I need to know what the next step would be to get an occupational. license after mine was suspended for DWI> I had a PD on my case but no longer have an attorney. Do I need an attorney?

It depends on if you can complete all the required paperwork and make sure that everything is processed correctly.

The request for an occupational license is made to the county or district court in the county where you live or to the court of original jurisdiction where the offense occurred. If your request is granted, the court issues an order and that order along with other required items must be submitted to the Texas Department of Public Safety. You will need the following:

  1. certified copy of petition and court order granting the license;
  2. an original SR-22 certificate of insurance;
  3. occupational license fee;
  4. any required reinstatement fees paid before license can be issued.
