Do I have a defamation of character case ?

Question Details: I purchased a purebred kitten from a breeder in Georgia. I posted a complaint on a complaint board stating only documented fact per first vet check 48 hours after purchase, very underweight for age with infection. Breeder posted response stating, "if kitten did weigh what she says, it's because he was starved to death after he left me, not my fault she doesn't know how to take care of a kitten". This is a very serious, false accusation. Do I have a defamation of character case?

Maybe.   Defamation requires that you be held up to scorn and ridicule in your community and that it not be true.  In addition it has to be "published" to a third person.  Published does not necessarily mean in print.  But does not sound like a case in which I would be interested. Also to be considered are the extent of your damages and many other facts that would have to be considered in a full interview.
