Defending against Penal Code 594(b)(2)(A)

Question Details:

I was charged for Vandalism to a regulatory Traffic sign. This was due to me moving it less then ten feet, when it had been leaning up against a fence, with all lettering and information facing said fence. Can I be charged for that?

You may have a solid defense here, which is important because in California a vandalism charge carries a potential license suspension as part of the penalty.  Under the facts you present, I don't see vandalism.  However, the police may think that you actually removed the sign from it's proper place.  Just because you were arrested does not necessarily mean you will actually be charged with that offense, but a good lawyer should be able to negotiate a relatively painless resolution to what appears to be a relatively minor transgression.
