Question Details: Can crediters from my deceased father come after me to collect payment for his debt? There is nothing of value in his estate.
Children do not inherit their parents debt. The estate is responsible for such liabilities; if there is nothing of value, then the debt will extinguish upon close of probate.
From a practical perspective, just send the creditor a copy of the death certificate. That will probably end the matter.
