Death threat by postal mail

Question Details: I have just received a death threat from my step-mother who is understandably upset with me. The incident took place when I was 13, she was 30 or so at the time. I wrote a letter to my dad last week ( I am now 40) and she responded with a very clear letter saying that "had I known your whereabouts before I would have killed me then, so don't be surprised if I show up on your doorstep and blow your head off." I have not spoken to my dad or her in over 16 years. She is in another state (TX) and I am in (CO). What should I do? I do take her threats seriously.

I am not admitted in Colorado or Texas.   You need to report the threat to the police.  I would report it locally to your police (but they have no jurisdiction over her at this point) and to the police in the county where she lives.   If you really think she is serious I would attempt to get a restraining order against her.  Seek legal advice in your area.
