Could I go to jail for dating a 15 year old?
Question Details: I'm 20 years old and my boyfriend is 15. I know it's a big age difference but I really care about him. I care about him enough to not have sex with him and put our relationship in jeopardy. His parents don't like the idea that I'm so much older and think that it's against the law to just date each other. Like I said we are not having sex. Could I still go to jail for this?
He still has parents who act in his "best interest". Until your boyfriend is 18 his parents dictate who he can and cannot have a relationship with. The potential criminal and civil ramifications are just to much. It is hard to anticipate all the different ways this could come back to haunt you.
Just a reminder, if the child is 14 years of age or older, but younger than 18 years of age, and you are more than 3 years older, you subject yourself to a prison sentence if you have a sexual relationship with him.
Wait tell he is 18. They will not let him visit you if you are incarcerated.
Hope this helps
