Filing a false police repor is a crime in and of itself.  However, you may have to prove that the contractor had no probably cause to report this crime to the police in order to then charge the contractor and/or sue him for malicious prosecution.  Were there any witnesses to this alleged incident?  Do you even own a gun?  Have the police contacted you?  If you have not been arrested at this time then you need to sit tight and do nothing. if you have witnesses to this incident, then you need to have them speak to the police if they contact you about this incident.  if you are arrested, you need to obtain a lawyer to represent you in this case as the crime is a felony and exposes you to jaile time (i.e. 1-5 years).
