Question Details: I have received a Civil Summons from a collector for a credit card debt. I have a house I'm paying for and 3 Paid for vehicles. If they and sue and win, how likely is it that they will take my vehicles? One is a Work Vehicle that I can't afford to loose.
If they sue and win, they could next try to either garnish your wages (take a percentage of what you earn) or put a lien on your property, such as a home or car. If a home, then if/when you sell the home, they can get a piece of the proceeds. If on a car or other non-real property, then they could attempt to force a sale.
In terms of how likely they are to do this, it depends on many factors: how much you owe, what you have in the bank and what you income is, etc. Putting liens on property is fairly inefficient, so if there are other ways to get the money from you, they would probably prefer that.
If you're worried about this, you should try to negotiate a payment schedule you can live with...or, if you cannot manage your debt at all, consider bankruptcy as an option to get out from under and protect certain assets.
