Question: Divorce, Marriage, Alimony - Michigan

Asked on 10/12/2009
Child Custody
My daughter, Nicole, is 19 and just had a baby. The father spent at least 6 months of the pregnancy in jail, is currently on a tether, and has never helped pay for a thing. Nicole did not list him on the birth certificate or give the baby his name. He is now threatening to take her to court. Nicole's father thinks we should let him see the baby a few times and maybe he will just go away. I say let him pay for a paternity test and take her to court. Legally would it be in her best interest to let him see the baby or let him take her to court first?

AttorneyPages has verified that this person is an attorney.

If he is the father you will appear to be spiteful to the court.  It is probably not in your best interest to make him jump through hoops.
