Changing Attorneys
Question Details: I did a chpt 13 and the plan has been accepted. If I change attorneys would everything start over or just continue as is.
Changing attorneys doesn't restart the case. If you want to change your plan, it doesn't matter whether or not you change attorneys, the lawyer (whoever) will have to file a motion with the court to do that, and then there's a process with the trustee and the debtors getting an opportunity to respond to the motion before the court decides whether or not to allow the change of plan.
I'd be very certain that your new attorney is committed to stepping into the middle of your case, because many lawyers shy away from that kind of situation; "I just got into the case" is an excuse that wears out very, very quickly, and it means that the new counsel has to do some serious catching-up in a short time. Until you have that certainty, don't fire the lawyer on the case now!
