Question Details: I had an accident and because i had no license at the time i stopped then decided to keep on going but i wasn't at fault. Now the insurance company of the other party involved has hired a lawyer and is seeking to make me pay over $4,000.00 and trying to suspend my license. What should i do?
Not having a license is not admissible in court to prove liability. Having witnesses is however and it seems that you have compounded your troubles by run running from the scene.
You are luckily you were not charged with felony hit and run. If it is your fault then you need to make a deal to pay the damages you caused to the extent you can. If it is not your fault then you need to defend yourself. Are they taking you to small claims court or regular court? If it is small claims court then you can defend yourself. If it is regular court you will need to find a lawyer or defend yourself.
By the way now that you have a license you also better make sure you have insurance or you will loose your license and if you get caught without a license or driving on a suspended license you could face jail time. Do yourself a favor and get these things taken care of before they cause a big problem in your life.

Are you a lawyer?
