I am a lawyer in CT and practice in this area of the law.  The protective order was placed in effect to protect you from your husband.  These protective orders generally last a few months at the most.  If you want to drop the order you will have to speak to the state's attorney and the victim's advocate to explain to them that you do not believe that you are in danger any more.  the state usually have a date in mind to determine whether to keep the order in plance, however, since you want it removed earlier you will need to show that there is not a likely chance that your husband is going to harm you.  you do not need a lawyer.
