Question: Criminal Defense - Michigan

Can you be arrested for unknowingly concealing stolen property? My dad was housing my brothers stolen items, and had no idea.....
my brother was stealing misc. items and hiding them throughout my parents 6garages and barns. my dad was arrested the next day, after my brother was, for concealing stolen property under $200. My dad had no idea that my brother was hiding the stuff, and they still arrested him. my dad is no criminal, but my brother was on parole, and will be behind bars for a long time i think. my dad goes to court tuesday....what do u think they will do? hes pleading not guilty and would like his $500 back from his bond.

You can be arrested for anything. However, to be convicted of the crime the prosecution has to prove beyond a reasonable doubt that your dad knew the items were stolen. Make sure you dad has a competent attorney to help him. Without knowing what hearing is up for Tuesday and who the Judge or court is, I can't predict what's going to happen.
