In the State of Michigan, the only court in which a LLC is not required to be represented by counsel is in the Small Claims Division of the District Court. In the General Civil Division of the District Court and in all other courts in the State of Michigan including the Federal Courts a LLC must be represented by an attorney.
An individual can represent himself or herself in all courts in the State of Michigan but it is not generally wise for an individual who has no legal training to go it alone.
