Can a landlord legally keep a security despot if a tenant didn't move into the apartment because they lost their job?
Question Details: I was looking to rent an apartment and I paid a $850 security deposit. Later on in the month I lost my job so I was unable to move in at the beginning of the month. Now I did sign a lease that was suppose to take effect on the 1st of this month. However I notified the landlord that I was no longer able to move a week before that date, but the land lord is still refusing to return the deposit. Is there anything I can do?

It depends on the terms of the security deposit. Was refundable or not? If not, then no.
