Can the father of a college student I was subletting from take any legal action in reference to rent discrepencies?

the answer without knowing specifics is that if he is the owner of the property you are subletting he than has the right to take action if there is a problem. As for the problem itself it sounds like he thinks rent was too low or not paid etc. If you have a written contract setting forth the terms and you followed through than he would have a hard time getting anywhere.
