Can my homeowner's insurance company have my home inspected without my knowledge or approval and then order me to make repairs?
Question Details:
I feel as if I have not gotten the whole story here. Something here is not right. Something had to trigger the insurance company coming down and inspecting the home. Did you file a claim? Was it time for renewal of your policy? Every home owners policy has a "cooperation" clause that requires that the homeowner cooperate with the company regarding the house they insure. An insurance company does not want to insure something that is a wreck or a liability. So write back and explain in a little more detail what triggered the inspection in the first place. It is unusual that they would just show up with out a basis for inspection or unscheduled.
