Question Details: can lie detector results be used in court as evidence in the state of oregon? my friend is trying to get released before his trail based on passing a lie detector test which the results state he is not gulity of the crime he is being charged. will they release him with this evidence? will they allow this evidence in court in oregon?

Although I do not practice law in the State of Oregon, here are my initial impressions. The general rule is that the results of polygraph tests are not admissible in court. That being said, if your friend passed a polygraph test, his attorney may be able to attempt to use that fact to influence the prosecutor to drop the charges that are currently pending. In any event, however, if your friend is incarcerated, he clearly needs to hire an attorney to answer these and other questions related to his defense.
