Can Landlord do This?

Question Details: My landlord here in Oregon just sent me a letter today 10/16/09 indicating that she believes we did not pay rent in May 2008. We paid with a money order and no longer have the paystub of that money order. She is demanding we pay that rent. Can she do that?

If the landlord believes she was not paid, she can demand the rent. Your remedy would be to prove it was paid. If you no longer have the paystub, can you go the postoffice or other organization from which you got the money order and get them to print you another copy of the receipt, or provide evidence that the money order was cashed (and ideally, by whom)?
