Under what conditions can you sue for wrongful termination?
Question Details: My contract was not renewed for my at will private school athletic director position. I never received anything in writing about it, only told verbally. I never received in writing any job expectations or performance reviews. Can I sue for wrongful termination?
If your contract had expired or was expiring, your employer was under no obligation to renew it--unless the contract itself had some "automatic renewal" or similar clause. In the absence of such clause, your employer could elect to not renew your contract, and there is nothing wrongful from a legal perspective.
