Can I sue for being forcefully medicated without a Doctors order while incarcerated?
Question Details:
I was incarcerated in Fairbanks, Ak for actions related to a bi-polar illness. After transfer to the Mental Health Unit, I refused a particular medication, I was then forcefully (and violently) medicated without a Doctors order. My public defender informed me this is illegal. How does one find an appropriate attorney to sue?
If your attorney advised you that what happened to you is illegal in your state then I would rely on his or her advice. The action was an injury to your person, so you would look for an attorney that specializes in Personal Injury work. You should be sure to look to speak with someone soon, as there are sometimes time limitations in filing certain documents against state or city agencies. The consultation is usually free. Good luck.
