Can I still get paid for my injuries?

Question Details: I was involved in a car accident in April of 2006; at the time I was 14 years of age. My mother spent the next two years negotiating the pain and suffering settlement for a neck injury i obtained but didn't settle to keep the case open until she was sure I was okay. When My mother finally sent in the claim papers at my request July of this year they said too much time has elapsed so they no longer have to award me pain and suffering. No one informed us of a time limit. Is there any way for me to still get this money? What is the time limit? I live in colorado if that makes a difference.

Auto Accidents Law Answers

The statute of limitations for personal injury claims in Colorado will be determinative.  I am not familiar with Colorado law, but generally speaking if settlement negotiations continued and the statute of limitations expired without a lawsuit being filed, you may have lost your rights forever in the matter.
