Can I refuse to sign a write up?
Question Details: I believe I was written up illegitimately right after I requested for part-time coming back from my Maternity leave. Is this legal? Ive been working here a year and just returned from ML 3 weeks ago, I have never been written up before but suddenly my employer believed I needed to be written up.
This is a red flag that your employer is looking to terminate you. I suggest that you review your company policy manual with an attorney so that you know your rights.
You need to be prepared for a termination and know what to do at every step of the process.

It is illegal to discriminate against you for your having taken maternity leave. It's also illegal for the employer to retaliate against you for requesting one. It sounds as though you have been treated wrongly. I handle a lot of discrimination matters. If you'd like to have a consultation, please call my office at 310-552-0808. Brenda Feigen
P.s. Do NOT sign the write-up without consulting a lawyer. Best again, Brenda Feigen (310)552-0808
