I am a lawyer in CT and practice in this area of the the law.  As a passenger in the car you may recover for personaly injuries if the driver was negligent.  negligence is a breach of a known duty of care that proximately results in damages to another.  In this case, i am unclear as to whether there was an auto accident.  If your ex did in fact jump over the seat causing you injuries, then you should be able to recover money damages for hospital bills and pain and suffering - presuming that this happended within 2 years as you may be barred by the statute of limitations if this occurred more than 2 years ago.  i suggest file a small claims court complaint and bringing in your medical bills as well as any other evidence/witnesses showing this incident was his fault.
