Question: Divorce, Marriage, Alimony - Michigan

Asked on 10/19/2009

Can I get my child from the grandparent? Mother gave child to grandparent not myself, the father.

Child is currently at grandmother's house. She stated to father that she was keeping her until the mother gets it together. Father wants the child and we are not sure how to get her from grandmother. No visits are allowed; only at church on Sunday can father see his child.

You have to file an immediate motion for custody and, pending final resolution, ask the court for a temporary order. The longer you leave the current situation in tact, the harder it will be to get the court to act. If you need assistance please call at (586) 268-2400
