Can I file my credit cards in my mom's name with my bankruptcy?

Question Details: I was working full time, but I had bad credit from a divorce. My mom had to help me get credit cards for my kids for xmas, etc. Since then I had to go on disability and I am unable to pay for the credit cards. Is it possible for me to put the credit cards in my bankruptcy that I have to file for again.

Bankruptcy Law Answers

I am a lawyer in CT an practice in this area of the law.  Unfortunately, if your mom is a signatory on the cards, your bankruptcy filing will only prevent the company from coming after you persoanly.  you mother will still be on the hook for the debt.  I suggest hiring a lawyer to try to settle the debt witht he credit card company as they usually will work with you to compromise the payment.
