Question Details: I became unable to work in June of this year. I have been on housing assistance for 10 yrs since my husband died and I raised my daughter alone. Aflac disclosed my private information to the housing program and now they have terminated my assistance when I need it the most! The person I queried lied and said they would never give out info without my authorization. I received a request for authorization yesterday in the mail but the housing worker received my info last week.
It sounds like there's a serious possibility of a case here. However, an attorney would need more information to give you reliable advice, and I'd recommend that you talk to a lawyer in your area about this, if you want to pursue it.
The first problem that occurs to me here is, what the information was that caused you to be terminated from the housing assistance program. If you are actually not eligible for the program, but you were receiving benefits by concealing the critical facts, or (even worse) lying about the facts, a court might not be quick to protect your right to cheat the pubic that way. And you may also find yourself soon being served with papers to repay those benefits.

Are you a lawyer?
