Can I evict a male boarder from my house because I want to turn my house into a all women's rescue home? How many days notice do I have to give?

I  am a lawyer in CT and practice in this area of the law.  You may evict a boarder if he is on a month to month lease.  a month to month lease permits either party (i.e. landlord or tenant) to leave at the end of each month term.  if you fear for your life, you need to hire a lawyer to send the boarder a letter indicating that you are terminating his ternancy at the end of the month and that he needs to leave.  If he fails to leave, you then need to serve him with a notice to quit on the basis that he is no longer permitted to occupy the property.  if he fails to leave within 5 days, then you need to hire a lawyer to file an eviction action to have a judge order him to leave.  thus, you may certainly get rid of the boarder.
