Florida is a mortgage state and there is a judicial process involved with property foreclosures. Although you surrendered the property, you did not mention whether it also underwent proper foreclosure proceedings.  By principle, when you surrendered the property, you also surrendered your personal responsibility and liability attached to the property. Therefore, you are no longer liable for any encumbrance resulting thereafter. Thus, you  need to verify with the court concerning its status because in effect, you could be cuddling some surprises on your lap, if you don’t take immediate action to rectify the situation.
