Can I be held liable for personal property, not my own, stored in the common areas of a communal living situation.

Question Details: I live in a 4 bedroom home. I lease the use of 1 bedroom and share the use of the rest of the house with the exception of the other bedrooms. One of my fellow tenants stores a large quantity of his personal property in the common areas. This property includes a large number of works of art, created by the tenant, of indeterminate value. Also there are antiques, objects of sentimental value, tools and clothing.
