Question: Employment and Labor - California

Asked on 10/22/2009
Can I be forced to work on scheduled day off?
Two days before my scheduled weekend off, a supervisor called me and asked if I could work on one of my coming days off. By the time we hung up it was understood I was unable to come in. On my first scheduled day off, I received a voice message from another supervisor telling me not to make any plans for my second day off, that he has me scheduled to work.

Unless you have a written employment agreement or if your supervisor is violating written company policy or union rules, then you should accomodate your employers needs if you want to keep your job.
