With mother's consent, can grandparents be given partial custody of a child while the mother still has custody?
Question Details:
Can a mother of a child give her parents partial custody of her own child? I just want to know if that is at all possible. Also, if it is possible, what are the chances of being able to do so if the father contests it? He has shown no interest in the child until the mother left him.
Yes Oregon law (ORS 109.056) allows a parent to delegate their parental responsibilities to another person for a period of 6 months (subject to renewal). It is effect for school, health care, but does not the other parent. It is possible to petition for joint custody with the mother if you have become a psychological parent of the child. Please call to schedule an in person or phone consultation.
