I am a lawyer in CT and practice in this area of the law.  A conviction will likely pop up on a background check regardless if it is the first or the 90th.  if you got into a first time offender program, the charges may be dismissed.  i suggest going to the court and asking them to run your name to determine whether the charge was dismissed or whether you have a record.

If your record does turn up you, since you were convicted under a first-time offender program, you will probably be eligible for an "expungement"; that is a clearing of your criminal record.  You should consult with an attorney in your area as to all of this.
