can an officer disclose information in a police report

Question Details: my fiance's ex wife filed charges against me for threating her(which didn't happen) bur i never heard from an officer about the charges, instead he called my fiance and told him that i was no longer allowed on his ex's property and he told him the charges she filed against me. i have been calling the officer to try to get information about the charges, as well as offering a statement on the charge and he has not responded to me. can he disclose this information to my fiance and not me? also, can i file charges against his ex for lying in a police report? i really need some advice.

The answer to your first question is that he can disclose this information to your fiance.  After the charges are filed they are public information.  The officer probably disclosed this information to your fiance because he was having trouble contacting you.  This is not unusual.  As to the question relating to filing charges against the victim, this is possible but it is highly unlikely that the DA would accept the case.  Unless you had absolute proof that you were somewhere else at the time the victim says you were harassing her there is little chance that the charges would be accepted.  Feel free to call me with any questions.  215-825-5183
