Can a seventeen year old get there own insurance plan?

Question Details: I am seventeen and dont have insurance for my car, my parents will not allow me on to there insurance plan but said that i can get my own if i pay for it. I cant find anything on the internet that says i can or cant get it myself.

Since you are under 18, the insurance company will probably require you to have a cosigner for your auto insurance policy.  If your parents are unwilling to cosign, perhaps another relative would be willing to cosign.  Another possibility might be for you to work out an agreement with your parents by which they would pay the premiums and you would reemburse them.
