Can a mechanic leagally repo a truck for work done, if I owe him money for it?
Question Details:
Under the laws of all states in this country a licensed mechanic ordinary has a "mechanic's lien" on a vehicle while the vehicle is in the mechanic's possession for unpaid services. However, once the vehicle that has had mechanical work done to it has been released to the owner with an outstanding bill owed, the mechanic cannot legally repossess the car for money owed.
The recourse is to sue the owner for the amount.
