Can a lawyer file a lien on a case at any time?

Question Details: Can a lawyer file a lien on a case at any time after he has been terminated? If he has not yet filed any claim relative to my case, can he still file a lien? Or once he has closed the case, can he no longer file a lien? Thank you!!

Generally, it depends on the original retainer agreement you signed with that attorney. If he provided work that resulted in information that was subsequently turned over to either your new attorney or used by you pro-se, then usually he is entitled to be paid for that effort.
