I am a lawyer  in CT and practice in this area of the law.    Health insurance coverage is governed by contract law.  I would need to see what the contract says about termination and cancellation.  Usually, the insurer must give notice to you if it is going to cancel coverage.  I suggest showing the policy to a  lawyer to determine whether the health insurance company improperly terminated your coverage.
