Can a felon own a black powder muzzle loader in Texas?

I am a convicted felon of a non violent crime and am still on parole. Can I own a black powder muzzle loader gun?

Texas law I believe allows a convicted felon to possess a firearm where he lives once five years have passed since his prison release or parole end.  However, federal law is even stricter and does not allow ownership at all if the crime for which he or she has been convicted was punishable for more than one year.

Black powder muzzle loader gun would fall into the category of a firearms so it would be prohibited under the specifications above.
