Health insurance coverage after termination
Question Details:
How long does your employer have to pay medical insurance after you were fired? I paid every 2 weeks for insurance and was fired on 10/26. They told me that my insurance would run out on 11/01.
They don't need to pay at all. They can offer to, as part of a severance package; or it might be part of your own personal employment contract with them; but there is no legal obligation for the employer to pay.
You have the right to continue your health insurance through COBRA, but you must bear all the costs.

Are you a lawyer?
